I have some other interests, too, but most of them are currently being surpressed by the fact that I live in an apartment. Lately, my other projects have included furniture for my apartment. So far I've built a computer desk and a really small entertainment center for my TV. The problem with doing this is that there is always a little leftover stain, polyurethane, etc. from each project, causing me to think of something else to build to use up the leftovers. In the process of doing so, I run out of something, have to buy more, and then I have more leftovers, causing me to build yet another item. I think there's at least a bookshelf and liquor cabinet's worth of stain left...and maybe a shoe rack.
Here is the desk. I made this with hand and battery-operated tools in an unlit 4x8' storage unit next to my apartment in one month shortly after I moved here. The working conditions were so awful I didn't build anything for about 2 years until I made the TV stand with the help of a friend's garage full of woodworking tools.
