Matt's Cub Cadet Page

Since 2003, I have been very heavily involved in the practice of buying, repairing, reselling, and, in some cases, (okay, many cases) keeping a fleet of antique Cub Cadet Garden Tractors built between 1962 and 1987. I use them for a variety of tasks, including mowing, tilling, snow removal, plowing, and many other things. I have learned quite a bit over the past few years, and I hope to share many of the things I have learned, and also display some information about some of the tractors in my collection. Additionally, I have a few projects in the works that I'll be sharing, too. Feel free to take a look around! Those of you running low screen resolutions, i.e. 800 x 600 or smaller, please let me know if you find anything annoying about the sidebar menu or anything else. I can be contacted by e-mail.

Until I find a better place to put this...Here's a video of the Plow Day held May 18, 2008 near Colfax, Wisconsin. I wanted to put this up a long time ago. Right click here and select "save target as" to save it to your computer so you can view it. I don't think it's possible to view it directly in the webpage.

News

January 19, 2020 -- Been awhile since this portion of my website has been updated. I've bought a house, moved two tractors to Kansas with me, and added another 1872 to the Kansas portion of the collection. The 782 and 682 with loader came with me to Kansas. The loader page has been updated with some new modifications to the loader, and I'll be creating a page for the #2 1872 in the near future.

March 17, 2014 -- About 2 years ago I started having issues with the old free domain...you get what you pay for with these things. I bought a domain and some space, and now this site should have a permanent, stable home. I haven't really been active in this hobby for the past two years, either. Anyway, website is finally back!

July 24, 2011 -- I completely re-did the 'Attachments' section. There is actually quite a bit of stuff there now. I have also added a how-to for repairing 82 series and later plastic dash panels.

July 20, 2011 -- It's been a LONG time since an update, as I had a crazy last couple of semesters at college, and now I have moved to Kansas for work. I have a few projects I finished during my short time at home that I'll eventually put up here.

October 3, 2010 -- I uploaded two short videos of the 582 running to YouTube and embedded them in its page. I also updated the "links" page. There is actually useful information there now.

September 7, 2010 -- There appear to be issues with the static timing instructions file. It's on the server and the path is correct...but it can't be downloaded. Until I figure that out, e-mail. me if you need it. FIXED, I think.

August 31, 2010 -- I radically changed how the tractors are organized to shrink the sidebar. Please email me if you can't see any pictures on the "Tractors" home page.

August 30, 2010 -- 782 page updated, and a couple other minor changes in other pages. I'm aware of multiple dead video links; I'm going to do something about that eventually. I should probably upload them all to YouTube and embed them. I've also got a few new things in my head that may appear if I can find the time to code them.

August 29, 2010 -- 682 Loader page added. Please email me if you are having problems with my lengthy pages; I'll break them up into smaller sections.

August 28, 2010 -- The home page image now changes at random on each page visit or refresh. Javascript must be enabled on your browser for this function to operate. I also added a page for the 1872 I picked up in the spring of 2010. I now see that I have inconsistent fonts and sizes in my buttons, so there'll be some sort of update there soon.

August 5, 2010 -- Head Gasket replacement How-To added.

June 8, 2010 -- The "For Sale" page actually contains items now, since I've sold half my collection, and most of my parts don't fit anything I own. I'll be adding stuff to that page all summer. Currently, the pictures are acting up at random; I'm working on that.

May 12, 2010 -- I've added a couple of things to the "How-to" section for rebuilding carburetors and timing K-series engines.

February 11, 2010 -- I have moved the website to a new domain, as you have probably noticed. Some things may not work correctly for awhile, until I get this all back to normal again.

October 18, 2009 -- Restored 100 page is done. I am now tracking page visits and the demographics of page visitors and stuff like that. I can also tell what OSs, screen resolutions, and browsers are being used by visitors. I see that a few of you are using Opera, a browser that I haven't tested this on...let me know if you're experiencing problems. Same for those of you running resolutions 800 x 600, as this page was designed for 1280 x 1024.

October 11, 2009 -- Added more pictures of the split brakes, and look for the Restored 100 page soon...

March 20, 2009 -- New sidebar, and I've added an "Attachments" page and "For Sale" page. I have updated the pictures on the 582 page, and I added my engine hoist to the "Tools" section.

March 19, 2009 -- I have added a new video to the 582 page, and a new picture.

February 28, 2009 -- I put up a picture of the 2nd revision of my brake pedal project in the "projects" section.

January 27, 2009 -- I realized I hadn't updated some stuff in the "About Me" section in awhile...oops...

January 4, 2009 -- 782D page slightly updated...found a picture I forgot I had...

January 3, 2009 -- 782 and "Projects" sections updated; I have installed independent rear brake pedals on the 782.

November 15, 2008 -- The above plow day video link should actually work now. I know the quality isn't too good...I'm working on another way to get the higher-quality, 50MB version on here.

October 16, 2008 -- 782 page slightly updated....not much else going to change until December or so...

July 1, 2008 -- 582 page updated. I've sold the 1512, so that tractor no longer is on here, either...

March 20, 2008 -- "Downloads" and "Tools" sections added
